MICHAL BENDERSKY BEL

The works of Michal Bendersky-Bel engage in the compelling and mystical power of the image. The bases for most of Bendersky-Bel's works are images found on the internet and personal pictures taken from her everyday life. The images are then appropriated by the artist though the act of spoiling, corrupting, emptying and finally reinventing them. Bendersky-Bel examines the area between intimacy and publicity and exploring the way they affect each other especially now days that social media turned our family photo album to public property.
The painting techniques she uses reflect a dialog between the graphic and the craft worlds to abstract and painting gestures cliché's. Two different visual worlds, some may say opposite world, combining together to a personal new style.

Bio

Michal Bendrsky Bel is an Israeli artist who recently moves to Dallas, Texas. Bendersky-Bel received her B.Ed. in art & art education (Cum Laude), from Hamidrasha - Beit Berl College in Israel, and her M.A. in educational counseling (Cum Laude) from Israeli Academic Collage in Israel. She was one of the founders of the Alfred Cultural Institute, one of the pioneering co-op galleries in Israel. For a decade, Bendersky-Bel was engaged in the gallery's management, curatorship and production, and exhibited four solo exhibitions and other group exhibitions.

Teaching and Educational projects were always part of her doing. Bendersky-Bel was head of the Ben-Zvi high school art department, held the assistant chair of the education department at the Nachum Guttman Museum in Tel Aviv, Israel. She was also a member of the steering committee which designed the syllabus for a new art department in the Ashdod museum.
